Recently took my husband and our cameras for a day out to a local insect and butterfly farm and it was great. We spent the whole day photographing and watching amazing little animals and insects. Here are a few of my favourite shots from the day, I hope you enjoy them.
This was one of the first photographs I took as we went inside the butterfly farm, my lens was a bit steamed up due to the temperature change and I was worried it wouldn’t come out very well. It turned out to be one of my favourite shots and has given it something of an accidental special effect.
Rows of chrysalis just waiting to emerge, kind of like ideas.
Poison arrow frogs, incredibly hard to get a cleat shot but finally I managed this one. I love these little guys probably because I am obsessed with poisons from nature.
Here’s a beautiful, dramatic creature who’s just completed it’s transformation from caterpillar to butterfly
Plot twist! Think you’re looking at the eye of something a bit more fierce, it never ceases to amaze me how creatures have such wonderful inbuilt camoflage.
Just love this image of terrapins worshiping their lamp. Interestingly the butterfly and insect farm have never bought any terrapins, all their residents are rejected pets because they grow a lot bigger than people realise, can be a bit smelly and are much more of a commitment.
